Thanks Jim!
Oh, I wasn't going to post the photo here because I didn't like the lighting. Well, it was "OK", but I was hoping for better lighting.
As some of you know, the TrainBoard has these photo contests for new photos taken by a certain date and time. Well, I finally got my act together on the final day and was waiting for the perfect afternoon light to come through my front window. Wouldn't you know it, the marine layer clouds arrived first and there went the perfect lighting that I was waiting for. ACK! I took the shot that I had and submitted it anyway. I was heartbroken, but that's what I get for waiting until the last minute.
Thanks for all who voted and I'll keep on submitting Z scale photos until Jim's Northen Division is up and running!

Bill, Congratulations! I love the photo. I think the lighting really adds to the image. It has a glow about it that is very cool!

Hi Jim. It was just my cheap Sony point & shoot digital that I set to movie mode. It's my "jobsite" camera, so it's been bounced around a bunch and I'm amazed that it still works.

Bill, you must have superior track work to get the train to go through S curves without derailig or uncoupling.

Thanks John, but I think that it's just dumb luck. Nothing special about the track - all Marklin stuff on Woodland Scenic track bed and risers.
Here's that same train going around the entire layout from "the air".

I'll tell you, those are some tight turns and some and 2.5% slopes and everybody stays on track just fine. I run Marklin 85' passenger coaches and 70' MTL Husky Stack Wells through it too. So I'm pretty lucky and happy.
Some times it's good to be lucky.

Bill,

Nice video, is that layout scratch built? Well, I voted for you and hope not because it was Z scale but because some of the other entries just didn't excite me.

David K Smith has a great photo in this weekends photo contest on Trainboard

The detail on his crossing is terrific and is raising a few eyebrows from other scales.

Sorry, Bill. :( If I had known, I would have voted for you. I already voted for David's photo. :) Hopefully, someone can keep us informed of the monthly Trainboard.com contests, if we have anyone submitting an entry for Z. ;)

Alex, Not a bad idea. I won two such contests before I ever mentioned the fact here. Looking at this from another angle I think the value of the Trainboard contests is they are a good way to expose Z scale on the rest of the scale modelers. I wouldn't like to see Z scalers stuffing the ballot box either. That devalues the contest and makes us (Z scalers) look bad. On the other hand a photo like David's, Bill's or at least one of my own photos were/are the best and deserve to win. I've got no issue in those cases for Z scalers to pile on. I don't want to condone voting for Z photos just because we can if they are not the best. Just my opinion. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

No worries Alex. I didn't enter a phot this week. Good thing too because David's is just awesome!
I'm just trying to fill in for Jim until his Northern Division is ready to take ALL of the photo contest wins! LOL!
