Guess I wasn't paying close enough attention.
Well, I do know where to post the pictures of the contest item so I better shake my booty and get it finished if I want it to appear.
Scrambling,
Loren

I really couldn't believe Tim was apologizing for the 'lousy' paint job. Either I'm very forgiving or I'm going blind because if he had not said anything, the poor paint comment would have gone right over my head.........of course Karin says a lot of things go over my head LOL
I am going to be doing some scrambling this evening on my project.......the hours are ticking away and I'm not close enough to the finish line.
To the mines......

I will say that I've spent the entire evening working on my project and I am pretty pleased with the results so far. Getting there and almost done. Hey, this is fun !!

Loren, Don't care about winning? What if the grand prize were $25,000? Anyway, the whole contest idea was to have some of the entries at the convention I didn't get to see entered here. (The land deal closed escrow last week, $18,000,000) So I guess it was worth it to not go to Medford. Prizes for the contest include, a choice between two Gray Brother's building from me. I think the a store kit from RSLaser, a modern car kit from Ztrack, and I'm not sure what you are contributing. Good luck to all. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)
Well, now I'm not cheap, but I can be bought...I just meant that I was more excited about actually doing some modeling than I was about any prize. I vaguely remember what it was like years ago when I seemed to have much more modeling time.......ahhhh, those were the days.
Anyway, the project is finished and I'll post pictures today.
As Paul Harvey used to say............"Stand by for News"

Things I need to do,
1 body mount the couplers.
2 Install the ladders (on their way from Anthony).
3 Paint and decals (don't have a clue as to colour or rr yet.
Now how about a kitbashing contest next?

Anyway, the project is finished and I'll post pictures today.
A note of credit for Don Avila......I believe it was Don Avila who originally sent me the photo of the boxcar home that I made the diorama from.
I couldn't find the actual photo to share to prove that this boxcar home really does exist.
Maybe Don can find it and post it for me.
Thanks Don for the inspiration for this project.

I made a boo boo on my entry......not that is doesn't merit any notice, but in reviewing the ground rules for the contest and then adding up the commercial parts involved in the diorama I sheepishly realized that I had gone way over the 20% commercial parts so in all fairness I am asking Jim to take my entry out of the running.
I will re post the pictures in the regular gallery for viewing. I also have a former peanut butter challenge diorama to post pictures of. I'll explain its construction also.
So, the Snide is bowing out of this contest due to my oversight........but I'll be back with another entry someday...not this contest, but the next one maybe?
I would love to have a totally scratch built category for the next contest, but no matter I'm into building and I'm loving it.........when I can find the time.

I think the word WOW is slightly less than adequate to describe your tremendous efforts put forth concerning the scratch built contest.
So let me get this straight....you have clear cut an entire forest to supply you with all the lumber you needed to build these structures? If the tree huggars out there get wind of you and your chain saw I'd suggest that you move to some country with no extradition treaty with the USA.
Or did you tear apart your daughter's doll house to get all that lumber?
No matter, I'm impressed to say the least. I sure hope you are someday able to incorporate these fine structures into an actual layout.
BTW, how many times did you cut yourself in doing these projects and how bad are the splinters?
Congratulations on some very fine work. That's worth at least a dozen 'atta boys'
Hat's off to you,
Loren

Easy answer!Contest ends tonight at 2400 PDT. Brad seems to have gone missing??? Anyone have ideas on how we should vote on the contest since he may not be able to get a poll up? Cheers, Jim CCRR:unsure:

Even if not, I'm going ahead with it anyway. I've been itching for months to do this since first seeing the original along I-5 just North of Yreka, CA a couple of years ago.
I think I've caught the 'building bug' Now if life would just leave me alone so I could sit and create. Anyone else feel that way?
Fingers are a twitching.......
