This evening (it's already International Day of Z here on Oz) I'll be demonstrating my newest acquisition to a visiting friend, even though it will be in the midst of the dust and mess of renovations. The newest aquisition, with which I'm really pleased, is a Schmidt E 94 in DRG (or DR) field grey.

This is a great idea!! Being away from home and having limited Z with me, I am not sure I will be able to do much, but I will surely post something here if I am able to!!
Again, great idea!!!

It is good to see you can get on ZCS from time to time. I (speaking only for myself) miss seeing all of your great projects.
Great idea having a International Day of Z on 2/20. I just hope no one confuses it with that other celebration that occurs on 4/20, if they do we could see a few derailments!
Thanks,
Jerry

Nice video, and very nice work on the mechanism. it runs very smooth, and the large flywheel really lets it creep along and very slow speed.

The first annual international day of Z is here! Ztrack is calling for February 20th (2/20) to be an annual day of Z scale! We encourage all Z scalers to do something with your Z scale trains on this day. Suggestions... run your trains, work on the layout, participate in the forums, join other Z scalers to meet and talk trains, build a kit, support your Z dealer or just think Z!
I encourage everyone to post what they did for the first annual day of Z on this threads. Share your passion for Z scale!

Rob, your "international" day of Z is a bit like World Series , where the "world" consists of 29 USA teams and one from Canada (hardly a world to the rest of us ) - I didn't see your post in Z-friends-Europe ?
(although to be fair, this forum is yet another example of "European" in name and "German" in reality )
Nice idea though
ps
"February 20th (2/20)" only works in US as well
rest of the world tends to use 20th February (20/2) ...

Actually, Ztrack Magazine now is sent to nearly 40 countries! It is truly a world wide publication! True 2/20 works better for the US, but the date does work well for the concept. Next year, we are looking at expanding this event and we have a few very interested manufacturers and partners we will be working with. I am not a member of Z-friends Europe. If someone is so kind to post the announcement, I would appreciate it. I did post this on Yahoo Z, Yahoo British and European, Markin user net, Railwaire, and Trainboard. Also, I ran an announcement in the November/December issue of Ztrack.
Happy Z Day!

Thrall Phase 1 60' Centerbeam.
The Thrall phase 1 60' centerbeam has been reworked with peel & stick lazerboard construction. This is the BN scheme.
This is the Western Pacific scheme
Thrall Deep Rib Woodchip Gondola
The Thrall cars have dump doors at both ends, so the brakewheel is on the side of the B end.

You can see the hinges at the top of A end of the car. The door swings open at the bottom for end dumping, and the yellow triangle at the end shows which end is the dump end. These cars were designed for either rotary dumping or tilt end dumping.
No dump door on the brake end of this car. After NP purchased these cars, UP ordered them, but with a side brakewheel, and 2 dump door ends, so theirs could be dumped from either end.
All this brake gear is plywood and lazerboard peel & stick assembly.
