Bill, Wait a minute. Doesn't anyone have a North American white tail deer for this company to look at? They just don't want, or don't have a clue to what we are looking for. Woodlands Scenics makes them in N. There is no way this animal will appear on the Northern Division. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Jim, I'll just say my layout moved east to Glenwood Springs, Colorado and those are elk. Then I could run my D&RGW more often.
Some white tail or mule deer would sure be nice.
Maybe in 2010. :)

Hello Jim,

we are disappointed that you see our doings so negativ, we are a small popular firm in germany, specially for scale z.
We have many z fans. We only make low volume production hand-made.
We search accurate for the role models, we have no mass-production from china
and with this deer we want to make the american Z- friends a pleasure, because some of them wish to have one.
Sales and profit are not in our firm at the first place.
Our articels are individual, special and no mass-produce goods.

Some people look at the glass half full and others half empty. My half full view of your effort is:-

The European stag is very similar to the North American Mountain Elk and so with a subtle change in colouring your European stag could be become a bull elk. Maybe google Elk and you can see the difference.

Anyway very nice work and I applaud the craftsmanship of you and others who do this work at home. I helps us get further with modeling.

North American White Tail dear males are smaller than the European stag about 3/4 of the size. While the Elk are almost identical in size.

seasons greetings
Garth

Hi Everyone!
I will take the blame for this this communication. They are indeed a small company that has a very small production. They make a few items, sell them, then get the capitol to make more.
I suggested the Hirsch or in America Elk, as they are found in both continents and were also asked for on line. A picture of the "Rohrende Hirsch" hanging behind the couch is as German as the "Pool Playing Dogs" is to Americans.
I will get with the folks and get them a site to the American White Tailed Deer. Remeber, the figures from Merten are also German elk.
We are getting closer, and those critters would look very nice up in the woods of the Northwest, as well as Texas or Oklahoma (seen some at Ft Sill years ago.)
As for me I am going to order a couple, and hope the females will come out soon. By then I will explane the North american deer and see if we can get the woods and fields populated.

Hi Jim and everyone.
I just got off the phone with them. They are making the Hirsch (or elk) in small numbers by order only. I will work with them to get some deer. In large numbers. It might take some time as they must be designed and sent off to be made. Thanks

I feel like a hungry mountain lion scanning the field below; waiting for a deer to stroll into view. YUM, lunch time! :woohoo:
I can feel it coming. 2010 is going to be a feeding frenzy!
I'm just patiently waiting. I have a nice open field. Plenty of sweet grasses. Those deer will come. They're hungry too.
I'm just patiently waiting... come here little deer... nice sweet grasses...

Bill,
I need deer too so I am going to entice them to come to my mountains where there is no hunting allowed, plenty of water, trees galore to bed down in and I'll even throw in a free salt lick. Want to up the ante?:P

I think we'll have a collective thanks to offer you for your efforts. Do you happen to know what their mastering and reproduction processes are? Their modeling is especially good, and I'm simply an insatiably curious person.

I really and truly dont know how they make them ..I think they do make these one at a time. I was going to try rapid prototyping them, but the only guys I know that can do the project are engineer and architect kinda folks with prices that match. This is why I turned to them. I know 3 different small manufactures of Z scale figures in Germany, and they all do some kind of small volume work. I'm trying to get differnt sizes and poses so it wont be an Andy Warhol kind of herd. So even if, there are 3 different makers, that might give some variety.
Again for wolves/coyotes, a pit of putty on the tail and a file to the ribs and a German Sheepdog can get the call of the wild.
There is also a tity breed of deer? goat? thing over here that might pass for NA antelope. Lets see if they turn up too.
Bears by Noch..HO scale ..I think..anyway do the cubs scale up to Z?

Woodland Scenics makes bears in N. Those cubs might work, but I've not given it any serious thought.
