Wood Coal Mine Structure on EBAY, who makes it.

Hi: I've been traveling with a company laptop, so I could only view pictures of what appears to be a really nice three story two track coal mine in wood. When I finally get home and could actually bid on one, they were gone. Does anyone know the manufacture of the one I'm talking about, did anyone buy one, and what your opinion. I'm modeling areas in Colorado which had coal mines.

Also anyone got any DRGW hoppers they are willing to part with?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThe seller's name is cachu1853. He makes quite a wide range of nicely-designed Z scale structures. He posts them in batches, so you'll have to set up an alert for listings from him. Or, you can try contacting him directly via his eBay page:

All of his structures are pre-assembled, but they're not painted. They're also a little on the "flat" side (not much detailing--most of what you see in the photos is all "burned in"), but with a good paint job they should do quite nicely. I especially like the coal mine.

I've ordered from him and he's a straight shooter. I've asked him if he'd sell them as kits, and he's considered it, but the cost to develop a kit, especially with instructions (English is not his first language, so it would be a challenge for him to write), is almost as much as it is for him to assemble them.

Also, Matt on Trainboard says he is working with someone to make some kits. See the thread www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?p=795408 for a picture of that design.

I sure hope he at least asks Dave Vollmer for permission to use his design, since he kitbashed that structure.

NO... he didn't... which is not surprising from this clown. Me and a few others have had experiances with him that have been less than satisfactory.

Is this a single structure? More exactly... Are all the buildings in this photo from a single auction?

Actually... this looks quite good as it is, without painting or weathering. B) The lazer burned wood gives it a rustic feeling. :woohoo: Hmmm... I have a bunch of Uncle Will's Full Throttle 2-bay and 3-bay hoppers and a good amount of PennZee 3-bay hoppers. :cheer:

This is not the structure I saw on Ebay, but it is more in line with a later design coal mine which I am actually looking for. What is its availabilty? Is there any more information that can be opennly discussed concerning this coal mine. Sounds like there was a nerve stepped on (Which I was not aware of) What is odd is with all the hoppers in Z scale, why there isn't a coal mine like this available already.

The two pictures of the Queen Mine are beautiful, and really this size coal mine was what I was looking for. Will the mine, be available publicly or subscription? Any estimate on the release date. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Fred (the man with many avatars) ;) ... the "Queen Coal" has been offered on feeBay several times. As Mr. Smith mentions, the seller's name is "cachu1853". From my previous contact with him, the only way he was willing to offer any thing in kit form is withOUT instructions.

I'm more interested in the other coal structure set. I've never seen it offered on feeBay, or maybe I just didn't notice it.

Alex,

Are you planning to use a coal mine on your layout? What area of the US are you modeling? Post some photos of your layout, would love to see your progress.

Yours,
