Michigan Central Railway Station was created by soccrdad30

I took a 45 minute drive north to visit a renovated Railway Station in Standish Michigan. It is now a tourist welcome center and historical centerpiece. This past mid October the railway station celebrated its 125th birthday. This is actually the replacement railway station for the prior wood railway station. The railway company brought in masons while the local farmers supplied fieldstone to create this beauty. The railway station still has the original floor plans with 90% of the building intact. The main room floors, ceilings, and light fixtures were replaced during the renovation. In the main room, the North side doors were replaced also. The side room and ticket office is still completely intact. Soda blasting was used to clean the entire building during the renovation.

John , That is a nice station. The one in Cincinnati downtown they just passed a bill to do some work in keeping it up. It's always nice to hear they are still trying to keep these old buildings. My father took a train out of Cincinnati train Station when he was in the Army. Thanks for the photo trying to design one to be printed at shapeways. have it half way done!

Beautiful building! Can you tour through the cars?
Last month I went to the Mad River and Nickel Plate Road museum in Bellevue, Ohio. If you have never been there, it's a "must see" place to visit. Many cars to tour through.

				Thank you for the complements.
Yes, they do allow tours through the cars. But the day I was there it was just the curator. She is there 3-4 days of the week and the cars are open on the weekends when extra help is there. The day I was there, I was the only guest besides the curator and a couple of volunteers cleaning the grounds.
Here are a couple photos of the Caboose showing some interior displays.

Yes, the roof is crazy since the ceilings in the rooms are very high. It looks like a great start! John
