Now for a serious question: Generally speaking, do your trains run clockwise or counter-clockwise?

Beverly, I'm only guessing here, but I think since most modelers are right handed they are more comfortable looking to the right at the train coming toward them, so clockwise. On my big layout, the CCRR/Southern Division, the trains seem to run the course better counter/anti clockwise. On the Layout to Iowa the design was for running counter clockwise on purpose. So who knows? Looking at your small layout I tend to favor clockwise. Cheers, Jim CCRR:huh:

I run mine both ways, simply because I like to see the different aspects you get from doing that.

Gary,

Is that running on a single track or double track? If double track which track runs in which direction.

Lajos,
I just had to tease this seller a bit so this is the question I asked.........

"How can you tell it is a left turn piece of track? I need a right turn piece of track. Thank you."

I am waiting to see what answer this seller gives me.

I really really need a right hand piece of track...:silly:

serious question deserves serious answer:
if you were modelling particular railroad in particular location you would do your research and follow full size pratice closely (and it varies - there is no one rule for all), but since you are just doing fantasy thingy B) it doesn't matter - it is your railroad and it will run whichever way you fancy :P

Mostly on a single track. On double track it's as per German practice - ie right handed (as in the USA).

Depends if track is fotographed as concave or convex.

This seller has advertised again, but this time the item is described as "turn track merklin z". Maybe someone sent him a message or maybe he's a member of this forum!

What gets me is advertising one piece of track at a time.

One piece at $0.99 if you are lucky, plus $3.00 postage. $3.99 for one piece?

Actually, I just sent a piece of track taped to cardboard to a fellow in an envelope and one stamp (.42) So it is obvious this fellow is out to make a buck or two. Cheers, Jim CCRR:huh:

After he has learned the track is not only left, but can be used for both, left and right turns... Hey, it's universal! It worth alot more.

I wrote to him and jokingly told him I was looking for a right turn piece of track.
He wrote back that it was a piece left over from his grandmother?

Here is his quote..... "not sure i just put that because that's what it looked like. left over track grandmother had."

I seriously doubt he knows anything about model railroading.....

Loren,

In my travels in eBay, I've found that some sellers buy stuff at local estate sales, inherit stuff, or sell things for friends/family - and they most often don't know anything about what they're selling. eBay is truly a buyer beware place. In this instance of the left turn track (   !!!), if you ask any questions about the condition of the track, the seller couldn't tell you anything useful about that either. Buyer beware!

There actually is a seller named seniormovingspecialists. They're good sellers and I bought a couple of Marklin freight cars from them only last week. I suspect that they don't often have Z scale items, but as far as I'm concerned they're worth a look from time to time.

Another brilliant listing from the same seller. Bid on a "storage tower".
Not my auction to promote.
