Not really Scratch Building -- but....
If you change an AZL motor board to a DCC board, such as an E8, the lights (LED's) on the DCC Board are nowhere near the light hole(s) on the engine shell. I tried using some acrylic cylinders to funnel the light to the opening. Poor success as you have to somehow attach the cylinder to both the shell and the chassis. I don't see an easy or practical way to connect each end.
Has anyone solved this problem?

There's two ways to skin the cat. Either change the smd with a regular led with longer pins, or use fiber optics to extend it all the way to the smds.

I'll look into this and see what I am getting into. I'd like not to mess up a DCC board nor a chassis. I am not at home at the moment, so when I get back I'll see what I can do.
One obvious question is can I reverse the LED polarity without doing any damage. Also, should the existing LED be removed or just left in parallel the new DCC LED.
Many thanks.
