z scale Semaphore

Next kit to get on my list is a RR depot, and as nice as the different kits look, they all look naked without the semaphore. Since there have been working German semaphores, I am thinking, where is the American one?
I am thinking I can start out with one made of brass and paper and such, then perhaps one that works using pull lever sand wires. Perhaps later one that is fully functional.
If one would build it commercially, would it be better to laser out the parts, or etch them out of metal? I know different railroads had different shape paddles and they are in different positions.
One could mount them on the signal bridges that are already out there.
I found lots of info out there including actual plans for the wings. I want to throw this out there to those who have the tools to produce them to try it, and if there are 3 different ones on the market, that's fine too.
I'll have my paper and metal one out there until something comes along that's much much better.

Good Evening Kelly,

I have seen some American signals but will need to research my computer files.
My computer crashed in July and a friend had been trying to restore it, but with no success. So, I drove to the Navy Exchange in San Diego and purchased a replacement,
HPE-250f and a Hi Def monitor. One problem with the newer computers is that they all have just USB ports so I also had to replace my old printer.
I had backed up my files so after I got the new computer up and running I restored my files. However, my email came back in a .dbx format and I don't know anything about that format. Also, I couldn't access my adderess book which is why I haven't sent you an email lately. The old computer with Windows XP had Outlook Express but the new computer with Windows 7 has Windows Mail, bummer.

Regards,

Robert

I made one several years ago. Was the type AT&SF used. Had a working flag. Just didn't have any way of powering it to correct positions. Now I do, but I am all about US Modern now. Still have it at home in my shop. I know exactly where it is. Just 1600+ miles away.

Unfortunately I think it was a bit larger than Z but definitely smaller than N. Material parts and tools exist to make more. Not a difficult task. I beieve it was Alchem models, or something like that, that had a set in N and/or HO scale ready etched.

Anyways, it would be alot easier to make a semaphore than to make a modern signal.

p.s. Kelley, you get that web link to all the railroad signal circuits?

Thanks Tim yes I did! Now to find somebody who likes making circuitry (I always fail at it)
I think a semaphore would be pretty easy to make and actually mass produce. I am looking everywhere to figure out what shape I would need to do the flags for the sidings I want. I know the data is out there. I am doing a single main line that will split into a passing track and then siding off that for a teamsters track or stockyard. I just have to hit the books and see what they had at those little depots.
