Have you ever had that brilliant idea of a laser kit that you would like to build for your layout? or even market?

Well you have the opportunity to be one step closer to reality. King Mill Enterprises has just released their Kit-O-Mat web application for free use.

Here is King Mill's statement, "This new version allows anyone to quickly design a scale structure and save the file to DXF for cutting by a laser cutting service or sign shop. We no longer offer the cutting service but Kit-O-Mat is now FREE." And the link: www.kingmill.com/kom

I apologize for making this sound like an ad, it is not. But, this is very exciting news for the Z community to give one the chance to design their own laser cut kits.

I do have a permanent link in our LinkZ page too.

DXF? Is this a file form that Karin or Rich can use with out redoing everything?

I went to the King Mill site and got totally confused so they won't be getting any files from me.:(

DXF is a file used in CAD, so it should be compatible to those who do lasercut works.

Yes, we can cut from a DXF file. Don't know about Karin's laser but mine cuts using line weights and color to decide when to cut or engrave. Don't know anything about the King Mill program so if you want to use it send a copy of the file first and will see what can be done. He did say on another forum ihe made it free because most of the work he got from it was custom.
