Description
This was the very first German designed and built locomotive. The LDE type 1\\\'C1\\\' n2 2T \\\"Saxonia\\\" was designed for long distance travel on the Leipzig to Dresden line, a distance of approx. 100km (60mi). Weighing in at 15 tonnes it had a top speed of 50km/h (30mph). Built in 1838, it was withdrawn from service in 1856. The model was built by Railex and was part of a set with a Geistwagen.
