Unique Train Situations was created by tealplanes
Hey guys, here is a new thread you can contribute to. It isn't Z related, but never the less it could apply if someone wanted to model something like this.

So add your favorite 'unique' train situation photo and maybe we'll see some of these scenes actually modeled.

It's supposed to be a picture of a train crossing a airport runway. Maybe Fred or Don can get the picture to post. I'm feeling too dumb to do it this morning.

Fred,
How come my picture didn't load. I did exactly like I have before. But of course I have other problems loading too. Usually the picture and post load twice even though I don't hit send twice.

Fred,
Your picture of the nosy loco reminds me of the Door's song...."Break on Through to the other side"

Good job Fred,

Now the guys can see the uniqueness of this train crossing? Or should we call it a plane crossing?

Gisborne Airport, on New Zealand’s North Island, may be the only airport in the world where planes occasionally have to stop and wait for trains to pass.

The main highway into Gibraltar from Spain crosses the main runway of the airport and the traffic has to stop for the planes. I guess in Gisborne it is the other way round as it much harder to stop the train than to send the airplane round again.

That is the real deal as the back hoe is designed to ride along the top edge of the car. Check out the attachments that permit this. There is a video of it getting on and off and doing its thing on top of the car. Just need to go a bit further.

neat to watch

Herzog car topper is what they call this machine.

the above link is the companies promo

I have seen in our area when they replaced the ties on a 10 mile section of track. The train went through and dropped ties from front half of trains with two machines and then a third at the rear dropped plated and spike packages. The next day the rail train arrived and dropped rail and the following week a work train arrived and as it move along it removed and cut up the rail into 50 ft lengths and dropped then beside the rail and pulled the new rail in place and temporarily spiked it in place then next machine pulled out the ties and replaced them and did final assemble of track to ties. The following day the ballast train came through and dropped new ballast and it was followed by the graders and tampers and so the new road bed and track were available for use.
