Power for Marklin Sidings?? was created by Socalz44

There was a discussion at my LHS today about whether sidings fed by Marklin turnouts needed only one rail to be cut to make a loco stop on the siding, or do both rails have to be cut? This all assumes another loco is running around the layout and one or more locos are sitting on sidings. I don't use Marklin so I couldn't give an answer. Help. Cheers, Jim CCRR:unsure:

I'm a belts and braces man, so I'd isolate both tracks. However I'd be very interested to see what someone with more knowledge than me says (and that means a lot of members here).

oops, I accidentally hit "new thread."
This I have done many times. If you cut only one rail, the effect is exactly the same, and the wiring vastly easier.

Jimbo, I cut only one rail with no problems. Its easier to follow the path of one rail for trouble shooting purposes.

Thanks all. I did it that way (one rail) on the Singapore layout but I wanted to make sure nothing has changed from the experts. I've always cut the Neg. rail. Thanks, Jim CCRR
