We only have photos of the version with the coal tender. I will have additional photos next month once they arrive here and we can take a photo shoot of these beauties.

Also a point of clarification, this is pre-order only. We are asking for payment at this time.

You make the reservation now and you pay when the item is ready to ship.

Mind you if you want to pay now I am sure Rob will take the money.

For those purchasing the oil tender version, roadnumber 3985, you may want to check out the video. Well, I won't ruin the surprise, but let's just say you have some real options for freight cars to run behind the locomotive. Enjoy the video!

Rob,

Great video ! ! !

Back in the mid 80s I had the opportunity to ride the special train from Denver, CO to Chyenne to the Rodeo Days. It was pulled by one of their steam engines and about 25 passenger cars and 2 or 3 open door baggage cars. It was a great ride and reminded be of the NRHS Iron Horse Rambles that operated out of Philadelphia in the 1950s when I was a kid. Those were the days of REAL steam...

Here is one detail that I have to share. There is a small package of spare parts included with the locomotive. One was an oddly shaped peice of plastic. I soon realized that is was a coal load. Yes, the tenders are open, and the coal load is a separate piece, but why? That is easy to see the interior detailing of the tender... including the cork screw coal loading mechanism! How cool is that!

Good news Challenger fans! The UP gray version and D&RGW singles are here in the Ztrack offices. We are currently test running. The first shipments will be going out to those of you who pre-ordered this Friday. We still have a very limited quantity of the UP gray version available as well as D&RGW singles. Ztrack subscribers, you can still place your orders at:

All becomes clear! I was wondering why I couldn't find UP passenger cars for love or money.
I watched a episode of the history channel's "Extreme Trains"last night. The programme's rather excitable young man was riding UPs 844 to Cheyenne for Rodeo Days.
It's a beautiful engine, but I noticed that a DD40X in the consist, helper or back-up engine?

I have had a few clients ask me about UP passenger cars. It appears the MTL cars are scarce. Marsilius Line offers UP passenger coaches, both the 1950 - 1971 version and the very recent 'named' series. One of the named cars is actually 'Challenger'. We do offer the Marsilius line and have many of the named cars in stock. Plus re receive order from Masilius all of the time. You can check out the selection and order at:

Hmmm... did I just hijack my own thread?
