New Z Scale Basics Article
We have a new Z Scale Basics article now online that discusses adding additional ballast to and weathering MTL Micro-Track. Rather than airbrush the roadbed as a first step, which is what many sectional users in other scales do... we wanted to take a simpler approach while utilizing the basic colors of the Micro-Track. Also we wanted to avoid getting ballast near the rails while still adding the appearance of loose ballast.
There are many ways to accomplish this... here's one look at how to do it:

As always... use a small test board, glue down a section or two of Micro-Track and test this technique there first. This will give you a good feel for it prior to using it on the "real" layout.

It's my test piece. Its been painted, cut, inked, and soon to be ballasted. Poor little curve of mtl track.
