Photo Contest Pre-annoucement was created by Socalz44
Friends, This is a preliminary announcement about the February Photo Contest. I don't have the parameters yet, but Loren & Karin will be providing the prize. The contest will be open to all except moderators. I have been asked before, concerning these contests, that only photos taken WITHOUT the additional use of photo focusing programs be allowed. This seems only fair in that very few of us have the programs. So NO focusing programs this time around. Topic will be announced in February. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Sounds good Jim but even if it's not allowed to use photo focusing programs, you guys must know: when the going gets tough, the tough get going B)

Karin, Beats me! Loren is losing his brains. Three months ago he said he had a casting type of prize. Lately, he has other ideas. I think he forgot about the thing he cast. He said he wouldn't tell me until contest time. Don't ask me, I just work here!?! Cheers, Jim CCRR:unsure:

I was kidding Jim, we want to give a kit away. The casting wasn't very exciting and not at all useful. We'll get it figured out in time.

Can you make Jurg a moderator to keep the playing field somewhat level ;) ?

With respect to Jurg,
Jeremy:cheer:

Sorry Jeremy, Rules are rules! You all have a month to work on photographic skills. Some things to remember. Outdoor (like Jurg's) usually gives better results. Indoor flash photography just doesn't look real and is to be discouraged. If anyone is still using their 3.2mp camera it is time for an upgrade. 9-12mp is pretty much standard these days. Don't get sucked into the $125 16mp specials. You may have 16mp but the sensor that processes the photo is still only built for 8mp! Virtually all my photos are taken with a 7.1mp Canon. Modern digicams for the most part have all the bells and whistles and can even correct for flourescent lighting. A tripod is VERY important. This will allow you to get rid of the flash and use available light. I don't know the topic yet. Cheers, Jim CCRR

Jurg, I sure can! Let us say, "March/Maybe February Photo Contest". I PROMISE! I have be very ill this past week and have been in bed for 5 days so I figure I have lost a week to prepare. I will contact Brad and see when he can squeeze in time to do the 'artwork' here on the site. That is actually the biggest thing. I thought I would have a "topic" for the contest already, but I'm a sick week behind on that. Topics are actually the hardest part of the contest. It has to be something that allows most of our members a chance to participate. Or maybe not participate:ohmy: . Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Looking forward to any photo contest, now all I have to do is get a camera that works. All of a sudden, my camera takes the best out of focus pictures. It's not looking good. I still have my old Panachronic laying around but it is only 1.3 megapixels. Oh well, might just have to paint a picture and submit a photo of that hehe.

Come on Terry, A cat from the pound costs $150. For $100 today you can get a state of the art digital camera with 8mp! You can do this. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Jim, the problem is I have a $100 Olympus, 6 mega pixels, I just brought, with extended warranty from Circuit City. I'll have to convince the wife I really need that $1,400.00 Canon hehe.

Jim, I agree, it must be a Contest for everybody. Something like: your favorit Engine or your favorit Car. No water, snow, rocks, trees or other stuff :-)
