matching paint for Union Pacific locomotives was created by slugger
I need help trying to match paint to Union Pacific railroad. I want to use Polyscale paints and I was wondering if Union Pacific uses the yellow from CNW colors. the polyscale color chart has U.P. yellow but its not even close to the color i'm thinking of. the yellow i'm trying to match is the main yellow on the flag paint style on U.P.'s engines.

Hi Steve,
as far as I remember I have used 2/3 UP yellow and 1/3 CNW yellow to match. But you have to try to match what you want. The problem with all UP unit photos is the yellow looks always different, depending on e.g. light conditions and at the end what camera has taken the picture. I'm always suprised when I take pictures with the digicam and compare them to the real thing.

Hi Steve,
I just ran into the same problem. I only had to paint some sunshades, so my paint match wasn't that critical. But I found that the Poly Scale Reefer Yellow was a lot closer match than the UP Armor Yellow, when trying to match the existing paint on my MTL GP35.
I was quite surprised as well.
Good luck!
