I've been to Miniature Wunderland in Hamburg and I am going to Loxx in Berlin this spring but this actually looks interesting as well. A bit troublesome to travel to St Petersburg but it seems worth the trip:

Petter... nice link and nice looking layout. The only thing unrealistic about it is the road traffic... much to organized for modern day Russia.

Oh... and, the page links to all the Russian brides and girlfriends. Mr.Moo is going to get lost for hours on those.

Southernscale, When Marklin came out with this loco back in the day, many were concened it just didn't look right. After all the talking heads and critics got done with the loco it was determined to scale out at about 1/200. Not enough to make a difference z-wise, but conjecture was that Marklin was testing the Nn3 waters. Before long Marklin gave up and went into bankruptcy and that rumor was gone.

I'm not one to say that size does or doesn't matter, however one trick to visually make the Bumble Bee smaller and more scale-like to the eye is to paint it black, if any of this bothers you. Jim

I just wanted to share this with you...

This morning there was a train crash in a satellite town just outside the swedish capitol Stockholm. A commuter train was "stolen" by a cleaner and driven with 80kph (maximum speed for the commuter train) from the depot to the last station on the line which ended 30m from a residential area. The train hit the house and came to a halt in someones living room.

The cleaner were slightly injured but noone else came to harm.

Fred... as I am now living in Sweden, I can attest that the barn-style building is quite common in the country. I believe there are barn kits in Z that could easily be bashed if someone was modeling Swedish Z.

I can add to the information....according to an old book about that commuter line it's the old station. There are a few z-scale models with that kind of roofs, Gambrel roofs, at www.epokemodeller-online.dk.

Thanks Petter, In the U.S. this is called a Dutch Colonial House. Similar to the Svensk Hus Rod. Shown are fotos of actual house and Z model.

I made the model out of solid wood and laminated it with Evergreen plastic to get the clapboard and shingle effect. Examples of proceedure below on differnt buildings.

Mitch- Welcome to Z Central.... Danbury Mint makes two Civil War scenes that are very close to Z--Just for the Historical buildings and the wagons they are very nice. I have two and someday hope to use them as a re enactment scene on my Z layout.
