3D printing will be big in the future, no doubt. At the moment I think it still needs lots of improvement regarding vertical surfaces, horizontal is already good. I have already my 3D CAD Software installed...

I agree, I can see affordable 3D printers with 0.1mm accuracy appearing in a few years time, which should be good enough for most of us.
The price would still need to come down to about 50% before I can see them really take of for the average hobbyist at least.

WOW Stony. Some locomotive really had a burn out. I would like to see the wheel that did this to the rail.

Fred, I believe Verne and the story portrays 20000 leagues (or about 65,000 miles)as the distance traveled beneath the surface. Not an actual depth of any given ocean point. Jim

Fred,
What scale are the models in the picture? I'd love to see it in Z.....

Robert- The Pride is Z scale-scratch built.
Nemo's Nautilus is a Hallmark Christmas Ornament. This is a model of the Disney interperatation of the sub. Jules Vern discribes the Nautilus as a cigar shaped vessl-227 feet long and 26 feet wide. Many Diagrams vary as to her appearance. This little model is about 5" long- when in Z it would be about 12". I just threw these two together for the picture- for fun. Sort of a "forced perspective" shot. I may- at some point - make a Z Nautilus, but it is not at the top of the list.
Thanks for commenting.

Fred,
Do you know what year Hallmark issued the Nautilus? My wife collected their John Deere and Dr Seus Cchristmas decorations. I have the Lionel ones but not the UP RR diesel engine items.

Robert- It was 2011 series. I googled and there are several sites that have Nautilus- ready to SHIP.
Hope this works:

If you can't find one I can check local stores.
Fred
PS- Barrister Babble-I have NO connection to the aforementioned site
