Well blow me over. Oh, that already happened didn't it. The report says that the cars were carrying auto parts. Yeah sure.....I'll bet that is their cover story and they don't want us to know the truth. Truth is they were probably carrying precious Z scale trains.....we are ruined, ruined I tell you.

Chinese made steam engine pulling a CSX gondola and a Rail Box box car. Now I know why people do this in Z scale.

So that explains why the saying 'Anything goes' has validity.

Nice video.

I agree with Loren. Apparently anything you would care to imagine is prototypical - at least once.

Many years ago- the U.S. Postal Service printed a series of stamps representing all 57 -errrrr- :woohoo:  50 states.
For Massachusettes they used Motif #1 in Rockport, to represent the state.-- Just another indication where life imitates Z. :)

Just some thoughts here. In early Z there was Marklin and MTL. Recently Marklin has all but left the American market and MTL had a chance to be the main Z producer. But all I see now are repaints-- and even some of those are not of the popular roads. They have come up with a few new body styles- some we really didn't need such as the hoppers.. but over all it looks like MTL is just "treading water" in Z. We have heard of a possible E-8 ( now ditched??) and a probable switcher. Both would have been welcomed. It appears now that AZL has really taken over Z with new body styles and engines. MTL even let the ballasted track componets fall to the Japanese. I'm wondering why..
A big thanks to AZL for all the new rolling stock and investing in Z.
Barrister gibberish...I am in no way connected to AZL- just an avid Z hobbiest.

If AZL bought out MTL we would have the good rolling stock with Micro coupler Then we wouldn't have to change them out. The one who like the micro couplers. But your right. Just another "Z" scaler

Yes there were two Chinese Mikados that came to North America, brand new from China from a final batch of steam produced in China initially they were operating on the Knox and Kane railroad in western NY state into Pennsylvania. the other one was on the Essex railway in Connecticut. A Tornado knocked out half of the bridge that was the main attaction on the Knox and Kane Railroad so it moved on into Ohio and was used in regular revenue and excursion operation there, not sure if it is still there or not. I saw them together double headed once in Ohio and individually on the Knox and Kane and the Essex. but the rime frame I thing was early 90's. There have been several articles in Trains covering these engines.

regards Garth

although it was often overlooked because of its remote location.

[edit] Final years

In the spring of 2006, the K&K ceased both freight and tourist service. One reason was that freight shipments over the line had declined seriously over the years. An additional reason the line was abandoned as a tourist operation was that the main attraction of the ride was a trip over the Kinzua Bridge. The viaduct was extensively damaged by a tornado in 2003. When the State of Pennsylvania, which owns the viaduct, could not afford to repair it, the railroad lost its major tourist draw.

In another devastating blow, on early Sunday March 16, 2008 the locomotives used to carry sightseers across the Kinzua Bridge were severely damaged by a fire set by arsonists.[3] The fire, which burned the Biddle Street building used to house the trains in Kane, Pennsylvania caused $1 million in damage. This further dampened the dream of reopening the railroad.

[edit] End of the line

On October 10 and 11, 2008, the K&K's rolling stock was auctioned off as part of a liquidation sale. The Kovalchick Corporation (which also owns the East Broad Top Railroad) bought the property.[4]

According to an article published in the Bradford Era newspaper immediately following the auction, the Kovalchicks reportedly had "little interest in resuming tourist rides along the rails."[5]

In the spring of 2010, Kovalchick removed the rail crossings between Clarion and McKean counties.[6] The entire line from Clarion Junction to Mount Jewett is now in the process of being removed. Once the tracks are removed, there are plans to convert the line into a trail as part of the rails-to-trails program.[5]
